1.  Soften and bleach any hard, rough skin by rubbing it with half a lemon.

Mayonnaise Cleansing Cream

Dissolves and gently removes make-up and grime, suitable fro all skin types.
1 egg yolk - 1 tablespoon cider vinegar - 1/2 teaspoon sugar - 8 tablespoons olive oil.
Stir the egg yolk, cideer vinegar and sugar together until ingredients are well blended.   Add the olive oil, a little at a time stirring continuously, until the mixture thickens and becomes a smooth yellow cream.  Bottle and leave to cool.  Using the fingertips apply liberally to the skin and pat off excess with tissue.

Honey Anti-wrinkle Night Cream

This smooths out any fine lines, particularly around the mouth and eyes, and rejuvenates lacklustre skin.  Myrrh adds an aromatic touch of luxury.
2 tablespoons milk - 1 teaspoon honey - 5 tablespoons single cream - 1/2 egg yolks - 2 drops tincture of myrrh.
Whip the milk and honey together in a pan over a low heat.  When the honey has completely dissolved, remove from the pan, then add teh single cream, egg yolk, tincture of myrrh and whisk the ingredients together thoroughly for 3 minutes.  Bottle and leave to cool.

Yeast 'n' Yoghurt Mask

To deep-cleanse dull, sluggish or problem skin.
1 tablespoon each of lemon, orange and carrot juice - 1 teaspoon olive oil - 1 tablespoon powdered brewer's yeast - 1/2 tablespoon natural yoghurt.
Mix the lemon, orange and carrot juice together until completely blended, then add the olive oil.
Stir in the powdered brewer's yeast and natural yoghurt until the mixture resembles a smooth paste.  Apply to face and neck with fingertips, avoiding the eyes and mouth.  Leave on for about 15 minutes, then rinse off thoroughly with lots of tepid water.

 

Orange Skin Freshener

For all skin types.  Use to refresh, enliven and pep-up skin after cleaning.

Peel from 3 oranges - 1 1/2 litres boiling water.

Wash, slice and score the peel and place in a saucepan.  Add the boiling water, cover and allow to steep for two hours.  Strain when cool then bottle.

Arrowroot and Orris Dry Shampoo

Great for limp, lank or dirty hair that needs an instant pick-up.
2 tablespoons dried arrowroot - 2 tablespoons dried orris root.
Mix all the ingredients together until well balanced. Massage through the hair from roots to tips and leave on for 30 minutes.  Brush out all traces of powder.

Fruity Hair Tonic

 Restores softness and shine to hair.
1 Orange - 1 apple - 1 small slice melon - 1 litre water - 1 litre cider vinegar.
Peel and slice fruit.  Puncture orange and melon peel.  Boil the fruit and peel in water, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove pan from heat and allow to stand for two hours.  Strain, add cider vinegar.  Leave to stand for 24 hours.

Avocado Conditioner

 Nourishes and conditions dry or brittle hair.
1/2 avocado, peeled - 2 teaspoons avocado oil - 2 egg yolks.
Mash ingredients together until frothy.  Massage into hair, particularly the ends.  Wrap head in warm towel and leave for 15 minutes.  Rinse thoroughly, dry as usual.

Pamper your hands and fingernails with luscious ingredients.

Cinnamon Toothpaste

Cleans and whitens sensitive teeth.
a tablespoon powdered arrowroot - 4 tablespoons ground cinnamon - whitch-hazel
Mix the powder, then add enough witch-hazel to make a stiff paste.  Brush

Lemon Peel Polisher

 Removes stubborn stains caused by nicotine, tea and coffee.
2 tablespoons ground dried lemon peel - 2 tablespoons bicarbonate of soda - 2 tablespoons fine sea salt
Mix all the ingredients together and make into a paste with water as necessary

Minty Mouthwash

 Keeps your breath sweet-smelling
2 teaspoons rosemary - 2 teaspoons mint - 1 litre boiling water - 1 teaspoon tincture of myrrh
Place the herbs and water in a pan, cover and "brew" for 10 minutes.  Strain when cool, add the myrrh.  Bottle and shake well.

BODY TONICS
Kitchen oils aren't just for frying! Mix with oatmeal, starch, salt & glycerine to look good

Rose & Lime Body Lotion

Leave all skin types silky smooth and soft.
3 tablespoons rosewater - 2 tablespoons lime juice - 1 tablespoon glycerine
Mix all the ingredients together to form a smooth lotion. Massage into skin after a bath.

After-bath Massage Oil

Pamper your skin with this smooth oil
4 tablespoons almond oil - 2 tablespoons wheatgerm oil - 3 tablespoons sunflower oil - 2 tablespoons seasame oil - 1 tablespoon avocado oil
Shake ingredients together and massage into skin.

Honey Beauty Bath Soak

Leaves skin feeling like satin, and you calm and relaxed!
1 tablespoon oatmeal - 1 tablespoon honey
Mix ingredients and place under warm water tap in bath, and let the mixture dissolve in the bath water.  Treat yourself to a relaxing soak for 15 minutes.

Fresh Foot Oil

Conditions rough skin and relieves tension in tired, aching feet
3 tablespoons olive or sunflower oil - 4 drops oil of cloves
Mix the oils and then bottle.  Massage into feet.

Yoghurt Foot Pack

Helps slough off hard or discoloured skin
125ml natural yoghurt - 1 tablespoon malt vinegar
Mix ingredients.  Apply all over feet, rub with a pumice stone.  Rinse feet in tepid water, and then dry thoroughly.
