How to Clean your crystal

There are some relevant differences between New Age crystal stores and commercial mineral stores.  There are some differences in selection and in the spiritual orientation of salespeople.  Never assume that a crystal is better because it comes from a new age shop.  Crystals don't change you, you change with the aid of a crystal, therefore the power of the crystal is not dependant on the shop you bought it from.

Some stores have information on the stones or you may ask a salesperson where the stones you are interested are kept.  Is there a special crystal that appeals to you, if so, pick it up and get a feel for its energy.  All purchases should be made intuitively.  If the store doesn't feel right to you, it is then not the best store for you.  Try shopping around, does one stone feel better than another, if so, purchase it.

Never buy a stone you don't feel right about, buying a crystal is an important purchase that shouldn't be forced or rushed.

Cleaning doesn't have to be complicated, you do not however use soap or detergent as cleaning your crystal is more a spiritual ritual as anything else.

The most common way of cleaning the crystal is by putting the crystal under cold tap water for one minute or more, or soaking the crystal in a solution of water and sea salt for a twenty four hour period.

You can leave your crystal in sunlight during the peak hours of 10.00am to 2.00pm for one afternoon.  Perhaps the easiest way is to buy dried sage (either in bundles or at a gem shop),  Clarify the crystal by burning the sage and allowing the smoke to surround all facets of the crystal.

The best way to clean your crystal is the way with which you feel most comfortable.
